I'm extremely tempted to get another set of Double Five wheels based on cool photos I've seen on the X308 forum (one guy has them on an XJ8 and it looks great); member ericjansen (if this post is against rules, I'll remove it):

I also like this cool shot I've seen of them done up in what looks similar to the grey window/mirror/windshield trim color:
I can do repairs cosmetically just fine, as long as the rim isn't bent and the curb rash isn't crazy extensive. Any good used resources for a set of 4? Anyone got a set they don't want and want cash for?
i'm tempted to powder coat the original chrome wheels in brunswick green, the same color as the "d" types, i think they would look nice with my silver paintwork and black interior.
I may have a set coming available, delivery of my new rims/tires are coming today. These are in decent shape but have some chrome flaking, if your up to having them redone they might work for you. I'll post some pics in the next days not sure what I want to do with them at this point.

Sounds interesting. Post em up if you decide to consider selling!
I hope that works out for you, but as a precaution, keep in mind that removing chrome from a wheel for refurbishment is MUCH more cost prohibitive than other standard 'powder coated' wheels. I recommend checking with a refurbisher to get quotes before going down that road.

I know a guy who does this and am planning to see what he wants. If the lower price for flaking chrome wheels offsets a decent part of the upcharge that I'm not doing the wheels fully myself like I would with repairing and redoing painted wheels, I'm game. It's bonus season anyway lol.
Right now they are stacked holding a table top I use to layout parts, once I've cleared it off I can lay them out and take photos. My time line is to have the rear re-installed mid next week so probably by next Fri.
I'd considered having them refurbed myself but there isn't anyone near who can do the work so I'm replacing them, they aren't all that terribly bad but you can judge when you see pics. I'll PM you as well when posted
