whoa...cool top, no idea if its stock or not?!? The chrome strips running up the bonnet edge from the headlamps confuses me.

 

It came off the production line that way, so it's a stocker. Built in 1974, one of only a handfull made right before the end of the XKE production IIRC. One owner near Charlotte until very recently, was bought for $40K. I would venture that the chrome trim is stock, seems to fit the overall theme.

Reminded me a little of those 1920's and 30's roadsters.

 

There is an identical one for sale right now on eBay, including the removable hardtop. Current bid is $27k and change. If I had the money, I'd have bought it this afternoon when I first spotted it. The XKE was the car that started my love affair with Jaguar back in the '70s when I was a kid. If anyone is interested the auction runs for another 12 hours.
