Hi.
My 1996 XK8 has just started beeping when the car is unlocked through the key (fob does not work that's another post). Also when I put it in program mode it chimes. It hasn't done this before and it's annoying. Anyone know how to mute it again?

It might be the flap on the ignition keyhole isn't closing...

Thanks. The steering wheel moves around as I insert the key so guess that's ok.

 

First is the car in “P”, is the red security light flashing?

 

And it's stopped doing it. Also I can't put it in program mode either. I think my SLM is fubar. Boot won't open either.
