Chugging

97 XK8 runs great except at low speed going up hills. If you up the speed dramatically it starts to chug. Also sometimes going on to highway. Once you step on gas hard it stops. Fuel filter or pump?

Certainly start with a $10 fuel filter.

Sounds more like it is in the wrong gear, what is the RPM when it is chugging.
