When I open my trunk, I see gook on my top in the little space seen when you open the trunk. Probably from parking the car outside at work. Don't know why I never paid much attention before.

Will the popular cleaners help to remove this buildup? If so, which would be best? Soap and water and brush removed some, but needs more work.

I include washing the channels on the luggage compartment and engine bay each time I wash the car. Same with the shut faces on the doors. No special treatment - I just use the same car shampoo and a sponge.

If you haven't done them for a while, it could take a few washes to get them completely clean again.

When you wax the car, includes these areas and the dirt will come off more easily in future.

I've had good luck cleaning stubborn dirt with Spray Nine, but haven't tested it on my top. That little strip on my black top is discolored, same as yours; never paid much attention until the rest of the top was treated with 303 and I noticed it looked faded and dirty. Good luck, and post if you find a good solution. I'll be doing mine when I return to FL next month.
