Default coaxial cable on fuel tank

I am in the process of draining fuel from 1997 XK8. When I removed the tank shield there was a coaxial cable along the top of the shield. It was cut on one end and I can't find where the other end goes. Can someone help me out, I don't know what it's for.
Thanks,
Jay111

Hmm. Maybe someone ran the antenna for the alarm up and thru there? That's IF the alarm would be an insulated coax,,, in second thought maybe that makes NO sense... I dunno. I'm interested though

If it's a coaxial cable, then likely the antenna for the key remotes, as Jay suggests, although possibly the phone antenna wiring as that routes across to the LHS.

On the convertible, there's only a connection at one end to the security module for the remotes. Do they work?
