system consist of a conicial K&N filter and heat shield. I installed per the directions, disconected the MAF from the stock air box, removed the stock air box, installed the MAF to the filter and reconected to the stock air system (minus the air box). MAF sits in a cutout in the heat shield. Drove for a while but when accelerating the car does not rev at the old rate, when I back off it picks up speed. Seems that ECU cannot adapt to the extra air flow. Reinstalled the stock system and everything is back to normal

I installed their cold air intake system in my XJ8 and it ran too lean in both banks. Changed back to stock air box and all is well. I would recommend just getting a replacement K&N filter for the OEM air box.

I doubt there issignificantly moreair coming into the system, hotter air of course yes. The stock air filter box provides true cold air (ie NOT from under the bonnet/after the hot radiator), the system you describe sounds more likea hot air filter, which is obviously not good.
Another good alternative is a filter from Fram in the stock box.
