Come drive in Texas
Texas will be opening a tollroad on November 11 that will have a posted speed limit of 85 MPH. Not that I drive that fast now , but it will be nice to do it legally.
Nice country between Austin and San Antonio, and both are great cities to visit, so come on down. A bonus is that Austin is hosting a Formula 1 race in November.

Driving in parts of Texas IS a competition. And we don't have manned toll booths now, so while there is still a "queue", at least it's a moving one. Until some moron stops and tries to figure out where to put his money. Usually, they try to put it in the huge sign that says, "KEEP MOVING. WE WILL BILL YOU."
The reduced speed limits at night went away about a year ago, so we don't have to slow down for some minor issue like reduced vision.

The ones around Austin still have manned booths - maybe not on all gates, but some. However, drivers can just drive through the electronic tag lanes, the toll authority will send bills later on.
I-10 outside of Ozona to El Paso also has 85 speed limit - and it's not a toll. In some areas, you get miles of visibility with even lighter traffic than the toll.
I've also been commuting between Austin and Dallas for the past 5 months on weekends, and most of the way with cruise control set 9-10 above the limits. So far so good .... knock on wood.
Sidebar note - if anybody want to come down and see F1, I believe hotels are almost out (if not out by now) and the price gouging is crazy. A Super8 asked for $399 per night that weekend! The general admission tickets are also sold out already.

We visit Texas usaually once every year to vist my mum (she lived in Leveland but is now in Abilene) A few years ago my wife and I thought it might be good to spend some time driving around Teaxs so we flew into Dallas, hired a big SUV and set off, we went to Huston, Austin, Galveston, Corpus Christi, San Antonio and then up to Leveland to see mum, then 5 days later drove back to Dallas for a few days. I didn't meet any toll booths, queue's or "roundabouts" and your roads and fuel prices were brilliant. It was an excellent trip, we had a brilliant time. I would just love to be able to have done the trip in my XK, and really envy "yawll" driving the new toll road....plus you have F1 in Austin in November ....wonder what you would think of driving around here, rual Norfolk, our main roads are what I think you call "farm to market roads"...but I wouldn't change it for the world!
