Visiting from X308 subforum. Considering a 2005 XK8 convertible, red with 60,000 miles. Body and interior look very good from pictures. Have not seen in person yet. At a independent import shop with a shot tranny. Owner says not in a limp home mode but no connection between engine and transmission. I'd be replacing the transmission myself. CarFax shows Pennsylvania for 5 years, Tenenessee for 6 years and Alabama for rest of the time so I'll be checking for rust. Owner said convertible top mechanism recently repaired.
Anything in particular I should be looking out for?

 

maybe read thru my thread from the 2004 I had for 7 years and drove daily for 70K miles. I think it will cover most common things you will run into on a 2005 with that mileage. It won't cover the transmission swap though.
