Default conv top 004 xk8

Put top down, latch did not retract. warg hood not latched! 40 a fuse blown, install new fuse, blown again. relay?

You can check relay by swapping the top up relay with the top down relay. If you are still blowing the fuse I would check to insure the pump is running. You can remove the panel in the boot and access the pump, then turn the T-shaped handle to open position to by pass pump pressure. You can use the allen wrench mounted on the pump to cycle the latch and make sure it isn't frozen.
With the pump on bypass and a new fuse installed have someone press the button to energize the pump. Is it running? Also while you are back there check to make sure fluid is in good condition and at proper level.

If the 40 amp fuse consistently blows, the TVS diode in the motor is the most likely cause. See XK8 Convertible Top, Fixing the Motor
