Default Hydraulic Top Hose Choices

This goes out to the group and hoping Gus chimes in as well.

I've seen Gus list two options he recommends for hydraulic top hoses (Jaguar or Top Hydraulics), which do you prefer?

A couple years go I replaced the top hose with a new OEM Jaguar one and added LSI's pressure relief valve into the mix. My repair is still good to go (knock on wood), however my Uncle's XK8 just gave him the green shower.

Luckily, I ordered 2 LSI valves when it originally occurred as I knew I'd be repairing his XK8 one day sooner or later.

What says the group to date as far as the best hose to go with?

I used Cabriolet Hydraulics out of Bradenton Fla but most others use Top Hydraulics

I used Top Hydraulics for the hoses and rebuilt latch and rams and I was very impressed with them...

Wayne (cjd777) and I put Top Hydraulics components into his 2000 XK8 in April 2015. Very impressive stuff....

Would a 2005 have less or the same potential for a "GREEN SHOWER?"

I think it's essentially the same potential. Seems to be a combination of heat and time. The longer these cars bake in the sun, the greater your chances....

Top Hydraulics plus Gus relief valve plus
I cannot recommend enough the top remote that Jagwrangler produces (thejagwrangler.com). I now use my remote exclusively to open and close the top and I find myself going topless much more because it is soooo convenient. My wife got if for me a couple of years ago as a present and I thought it would be more of novelty, but it should be standard issue. Can't recommend it enough, good luck.

The problem with the hoses failing is heat and pressure and time. This link shoule provide you the information you need to better understand the problem.

I thought at one time there were some really bullet-proof hoses developed by some outfit that Gus had been communicating with--Colliflower?

Are those available anymore?

The Colliflower hoses are still available. As for the connections the 2 hoses you see from the trunk are for the latch and the 4 hoses on the fender side are for the rams. See attached link.

I have a great deal of information on my page related to the hydraulic system if you care to look.

Just know the fittings on the pump are metric.

Just my two cents, BUT I would strongly recommend going with a PROVEN commodity in the Top Hydraulics hoses... you might think $250 for the TWO front latch hoses is expensive, but they are rated at 23,200 psi burst pressure (kevlar reinforced) and that peace of mind is worth every penny. You could probably "skimp" on the rear ones, but the labor to replace the front hoses is NOT something you want to do twice.

There is a spec and a source for the needed DIN-standard plugs in the "manual latch" link below. You're right; it will be downright balmy here by tomorrow.
