Default Convertable top pump motor

Recently saw a YouTube of a fellow installing a 0.20 ohm 100 watt resistor in series with the convertible top pump motor. Stated that little device goes a long way in preventing the terrible green shower. He did mention that he sells these pigtails with the proper connectors, but did not say where and how.

Anyone know ?

That would be Reverend Sam a member here but an infrequent poster now that he has sold his Jag.
He doesn't sell the resistors anymore.
A search of the XK8/R forum for "resistor" should yield a few pages of reading.

I 'Googled' and found a suitable resistor. It only cost a few dollars and took about 10 minutes to install, but I made my own connectors. You can get suitable connectors at any auto store but there may be some soldering required.

A little reading material about the voltage reduction system

I would have been happy to leave things alone, letting people do their own due diligence. But by all means read what's been cited. And then please read the "voltage reducer" link below.

Also:

- User experience: the reductions, if any, in the failure rate of our convertible latch hoses resulting from installing a relief valve or a resistor are unknown. There appears to be some benefit from each, but we have only limited survey data to go on.

- Forecasting improved failure rate: the idea that peak pressure is the only, or even the primary, cause of hose failures is an assumption, one that does not hold up well under scrutiny. Testing standards and automated test gear for hoses such as these say otherwise, notably in the area of the "shape" of pressure pulses ... e.g. the rate of pressure rise. (more in the "voltage reducer" link below). In light of this, it's not valid to claim that failure rate will be better in one system than in another simply from comparing peak pressures.

- The environment is the dominant cause of failure: the latch and pump ends of a latch hose see exactly the same peak pressures, yet reported failures at the latch end seem at least an order of magnitude higher than at the pump end. These hoses fail with a relief valve, with a resistor, or with neither in place, but almost always at the latch end. It follows that the environment there (heat and/or mechanical stress) is the dominant cause of failures, and may be too severe for us to save many of the stock hoses with either a prv or voltage reduction. The good news is that the new "2nd gen" hoses appear strong enough to handle this on their own, without the added expense of a prv or resistor.

Phyllista,

Almost forgot. Not too long ago, Rev. Sam did have some resistor kits available. Send me a PM if you need his email address.
