Default Convertible Top DIY?

Has anyone attempted to replace their convertible top and headliner by themselves? I have the new top but the local shop wants over $1000 to do the job.

$1000 does seem rather expensive so I can understand wanting to give it a try; however, having seen a number of DIY fabric top installs (none Jaguar) and knowing the complexities involved, I'd shy away from a DIY. Which is probably why you don't see them anywhere here. Keep shopping around and you should get a better price. Let us know what you decide.

there are a couple threads on here where owners replaced the headliner in the convertible with much pain due to rivets, tensioners, etc. Don't know if I would even consider top and headliner as a diy

More like a PITA than a DIY

Installation was a couple of pages, an engine replacement job looked easier to me.
