Default convertible top interior handle

On my 1997 XK8 Convertible top their is a interior opening where you can put your hand in and manually pull the top up. Is there a trim piece covering the opening ?

For a better looking, I have put a u-shaped flexible trim around the hole, the type you can find here:
U Shape Edge Trim, U Shape Edge Trim Suppliers and Manufacturers at Alibaba.com
And I think it much more nice ! (sorry, I have no pic, as I am now in France for a couple of weeks, and my XK8 is in Florida).

Default Convertible Top Handle

Hi: I was wondering the same thing. I bought a used 1997 XK8 and asked every vendor and indy I knew what belonged there. Didn't know until I found your posting here.

I've attached my photo- looks like maybe the open top was left in the rain and the adhesive let go inside the cavity there.

It's been about six months- could you post a photo of the edging you put on it?

Thanks,
Larry (JagSlave)

My '97 has a color keyed plastic insert there. And it keeps falling out so many of them probably just got lost or tossed.

I thought my handle was missing and Jaguar told me the handles are no longer available.

Then I just printed myself one that fits so precisely in the cutout that the fabric is perfectly clamped without having to fix it with glue.
Even if he sits so tight and would not have to be screwed tightly, I still preferred the version with drill holes.

Hello!
That's beautiful work.. Would you be willing to fabricate more of them?
Thanks,
Larry

Hi,

yes, that should be no problem. I also run a business, just in case if you need an invoice.

Yes that would be possible, with shipping costs and the hassle with customs documents being the biggest part. 😅I would have to get 30€, but this is almost unpleasant to me, since the material costs are as good as nothing. 🙄

I think there would be several members who would gladly pay to have you manufacture this post for them including me. If this would be possible what would this cost (not including shipping)?

If you could put 10€ in cash in my hand, that would be okay.
Unfortunately, this does not work with electronic payment and shipping, because then I am obliged to sell it officially and have to pay over 55% sales tax/VAT.
