Default Coolant overflow hose

I have a leak at the engine end of the coolant overflow hose (2000 XK8). I ordered and received a new hose ($26 incl shipping from autopartswarehouse.com). However, the existing tube or hose has two circlips, one at the engine and the other at the coolant overflow tanks.

I was wondering if someone can help - are the existing clips easy to take off and more importantly are they reusable? I havent tried to take them off yet for that reason.

Thanks for any info.

Kal

There is a special tool for those 'clic' type hose clamps., but they can also be removed with a pair of pliers and a small flatblade scredriver as follows:

Pry open the clamps with a small screwdriver in the rectangular window on the clamps. While gently prying, squeeze the clamps together by their outermost ears with a pair of pliers.

They can be reused as long as you are gentle and do not deform them.

If they deform just get some breeze clamps.

these should be readily available.

I replaced a coolant line from the tank to the connection at the front of the engine. Clamps popped open with a screwdriver and clamped closed with pliers. Working fine for 3 years now.

I pried the clamps open (pliers to gently pull the prongs together and then pushed the claw foot upward to release the clamp) and replaced the overflow tank hose.

Was able to reuse the clamps and the car is a go.

Thanks whitexkr, daddyo and hlgeorge
