Default Coventry whitley aftermarket wheel pics?

I've been looking at getting some nicer wheels for my XKR. I do like the look of the 20'' wheels, though I want to keep it mild and sporty looking - not flashy and "ghetto" like (so no chrome or intricate designs).

I've really been considering the 20'' Coventry whitley wheels, in painted silver with chrome trim ring. They looks to pretty much be a replica of the ever popular Sepangs, even in the same 20x8.5 and 20x10 staggered combination, but with a small polished lip. I'm surprised I haven't found any pictures of them on an xk8/r though - has anyone looked into them and found a picture of them mounted on our jags?

Cheers

Have you considered simply buying a set of Sepangs off eBay? They are often up for sale, more often than not from XJ owners/breakers.

I have been looking for about a year, have even been in contact with some ebay sellers in the UK. I have not been able to find a set at a reasonable price.

I saw a few used 20'' detroit sets go on ebay for around $1500 with tires, and though they are nice wheels, I'd prefer the sepangs if I could find them.

The coventry whitley's look to be an almost exact replica of the sepangs (including same number of spokes, chrome trim, and chrome trim "screws), with the addition of a lip, which I think maybe looks even better than the classic sepangs. A brand new set of 20x8.5 + 20x10 runs for about $1200.

For reference:

I also quite like the Atlas 19'' wheels, saw one set go on ebay for $500 a couple of months ago. They really remind me of the DB9 wheels. Thinking back I probably shouldve pulled the trigger on that one!

The black coupe's are 19's black whitleys, the blue vert has what looks like 18's in chrome. I was hoping to see 20'' whitleys in silver, like the sepangs, as mentioned.

Default coventry wheels

I am also looking into putting the Coventry Whitley's on my Anthracite XK8 I think black with the chrome lip would look very nice but I am having trouble pulling the trigger without seeing them in the flesh.

Is there a market for my pristine 17" anodized revolvers should I make the switch?

Probably not. The revolvers are pretty common. Maybe as a spare snow tire set... I've seen a few revolvers on ebay and they never seem to sell, even the refurbished chrome ones.

If you sell them, try to market them to the XJ community. They look much better on the XJ and I know there are owners that are looking for them.

Gents,
I can not agree more. I think the coventry whitley looks good. Hope this photos post on my 2011 XJ. Considering paint matching.

Hi,

Certainly I cannot dispute personal choice in wheels, but having the same pattern on my newly found XKR, I admit I'm very fond of the factory pattern. Elegant but not over overwrought. I like the look on the "timeless" style of the original XK8/R.

Saving grace, I'd guess, is that the original wheels probably are in enough demand by owners that you could heavily subsidize your new wheels by selling the originals.

Hey, do post image of your car once you put new wheels on.

regards

david

The blue convertible on the Whitley web site is mine.
Imported the wheels from California to the UK last year.
They are not chrome, it's just the way the sun is hitting them.
And yes they are 18".
Good build quality.

This is what I did when I refurbished my curbed wheels.
