Default Cruise Control Unavailable & Check Rear Lights

I may not have quoted the yellow warnings exactly, but the warnings are something like that. That combination has come on temporarily three times in the week or two since I had work done at the local Jaguar dealer.

After a small leak showing near the latch, I had the convertible top hydraulic system repaired/replaced. (My regular independent Jaguar serviceman suggested that I go to the dealer for the problem.) Since, I was at the dealer, I also purchased and had coded a new second ignition key. Also, since I was there I had the window module in the passenger door replaced. Wow! Lots of $$! Unfortunately, I do not have a garage or workshop.

The dealer says those two yellow warnings often go together and probably relate to a brake switch. (I think that's what he said.)

This is for a 2005 XK8 convertible. Any suggestions?

The brake light switch has two sets of contacts. It turns brake lights on and cruise control off. Are the brake lights working? If yes, it might be worth while disconnecting the plug and cleaning the contacts, then see if the fault occurs again. Replacing the switch is a nuisance, but not too bad with extra hands. There are several threads covering the process on this forum.
