Default Cyl.#'s & codes for '99 XK8 ...???????

My 1999 XK8 started throwing the following codes after we installed the 3rd generation timing chain assemblies & chains.

I've been using the JLR SDD V130 for both my '99 XK8 and my wife's '04 XJ8 so I often get the 2 confused when running diagnostics.

I'm confused by the cylinder numbering and the specific codes thrown as there are 3 different description of which cylinder their pointing out.

The codes are P300, P306, & P1316. The IDS scan shows them as being random misfire, misfire cyl. # 6, and excessive emissions in that order.

The 2002.5 and prior 4.0 cars used different cylinder numbering according to the pictures in the SVC manual with the cylinders being numbered 1 through 4 on BOTH sides from front to rear with no specific cylinder called out as #6. Yet in a different call out they show the same numbering system alongside the firing order which places cylinder #6 in the firing order next to cylinder #2 on the driver's side.

So which cylinder and on which side (driver's or passengers) are they calling out. By the way which side do they refer to as the right or left from the driver's seat?

That is all together different from the post 2002.5 models their the cylinder #'s correspond to the firing order and the codes called out by the SDD.

I'm also having a couple of other somewhat related codes thrown that don't make a lot of sense but I want to sort this particular one out before tackling the others as this may be the root cause.

Right and left side are from the drivers seat looking forward. So your problem is the second cylinder from the front of the car left, driver side US. Check that the connector is secure then switch coil to an adjoining cylinder to see if problem moves with the coil

That's my thinking as well but I wanted to get a second opinion.

As a follow up could that misfire also trigger a cam sensor bad reading.

One other question. Am I right in thinking that Bank 1 is the right side and Bank 2 is the left side.

I don't know if a mistire would cause a cam sensor bad reading. I don't think it would but some of our members with more knoweledge about this might chime in. What do you mean by bad reading, did it throw a code?

And yes bank 1 is the right bank, passenger US, and bank 2 is left.

Default 1st one thing then another..

Got sidetracked when I punctured a right rear tire and had to spend the day getting a replacement mounted and balanced. I had probably no more than 9K on this set of tires and was fried to lose one so soon. Matched the other 3 so at least the handling, etc. won't change.

Hope I can get back to it this weekend as the car hasn't been 'right' since I had the cam tensioners and chains replaced.
