Daily Driver now.

Funny you mention this. I just sold my pick up truck and now I too am "forced" to use my jag as a daily driver. Just my luck!

I bought my 200 XKR to be my daily driver. Having something this nice sitting in the garage while driving something lesser just seemed wrong. When we moved back to where winter is historically harsher, Abby wanted me to get something else to drive when they sand the roads. I still haven't gotten another vehicle, for me, but got another for her, so she insists I drive her 2007 F150 King Ranch on bad weather days. It's a nice rig, but it's not my Jag.

Interesting split on this one.
The majority of USA members have another car as a daily driver and the Jaguar spends most of the time in their garage. With the majority of UK members, it's the other way round. Their Jaguar is the daily driver.
Now I know I'll have Tberg replying from CA that he drives his every day and ArtyH in England pointing out his Jaguars are garaged over the Winter!

Well its -30 deg C here this morning so a convertible is out of the question...... actually I keep my baby inside my heated shop ( right beside my 66 MGB). The car has never seen snow or salt and as a result is rust free. With just over 81000 kms on her she will be good for the remainder of my time.
Given that one snow drift would hang her up as well ,I will stick with my AWD vehicle as my daily driver.
It would bother me to subject my girl to the such shitty road conditions when it is easily avoided.

My wife's 2006 XK8 has been her daily driver from the first day it showed up in our driveway. Acquired in February 2012 at 36,000 miles, now pushing 90,000 miles. But since we're currently iced in with 7 inches of snow in our neck of the woods, both of our Jaguars sit patiently at home while we get around in my sturdy 1999 Dodge Ram pickup....

Decided to start the Jag after a long winter snooze with its trickle charger connected. Surprised me that it started right up and ran great. Drove it up and down our dead end street a couple of times til it was warmed up. Heater still did not work and sport switch had not fixed itself either. Oh well, we need to melt about 20 inches of snow on the ground before I get to really drive it anywhere. Loooong coooold winter this year. More snow due tomorrow and Wednesday.

well finally got new tires on the rear put on today. When IO bought it the fronts were new so I finally got the rear tires to match. These boys look HUGE under there.
Had the shop also look at the front end for the noises I hear. Good news, nothing major, just bunch of bad bushings which I figured it would be. The ball joints and the the like are in good shape.

A couple of days ago, I too decided that I could wait no longer, and started both the Jag and Miata. Both started instantly so I took them off life support (trickle chargers) as I am hoping to drive them again within four weeks or so. I did not drive them down the street as road insurance is suspended for the winter, but ran them up to operating temperature before putting them back in the garage. Our roads are now bare, but I still have a LOT of snow on my property.

We have lived in the house we are in now for 14 years. Last summer I had to put a roof on it along with us already deciding to put in all new windows and this spring redoing the kitchen all the way. I have two toy cars if you will. 74 Olds Conv and the 03 Jag. I have a 74 Olds Delta 88 Conv. Yes a huge barge but I LOVE IT and it costs the fraction it costs to maint the Jag. The Jag would bring some good cash to put into the house, it would make sense priority wise. So it is up for sale, if it does not sell, no problem, we will keep driving it as we are now.
So if anyone is looking for one....

I drive my X Type during the winter, but wash it like every other day, and rotate the XK8 and Porsche 928S on days without snow, or rain. I'm just a little **** about driving the XK8 with 9" wide tires and a light rear end, and the 928 with 340hp and 11" wide boots at both ends, when they can kick out on me, in the wet. I got the 928S stuck in 1 1/2 inches of snow before.....How humbling to ask others to push me to get started. I can still hear the laughter.......Be cool.....Mike
