I'm posting this here because the car in question is an XKR in the Dallas area and I'm in California. I 'd like a couple suggestions of an good independent shop that could do said evaluation of the car for me. I'm presently queued up to have it taken to Jim's Jag Shop, that being the first one I came across on the net. Maybe they're the right shop but I'd like some input if you have salient thoughts, thx!

 

I used Jim's several years ago on two XJ's and was very pleased with his work. It was a father/son operation if I remember. The father was who handled my work.

You might also contact Motorcars Ltd. They are in North Dallas and have affiliations with at least one of the local Jag clubs. Haven't used them myself (yet, knock on wood), but did speak with a techie who was very familiar with the XK8 and its quirks.
