Default Dark tinted side lights?

Hi all,
I am trying to find very dark Side Lights/Repeaters or just the lenses for my 2000 XKR. I have found the "Clear" as well as "Smoked" ones, but I would like the really dark ones similar to those on the Arden XKR. There are a couple on eBay listed for XK's but I am not sure that they would fit my year. Any suggestions?
Many thanks!
Brian

Silly question but will it pass your state inspection?

Hi Gus,
Florida does not have Vehicle Inspections. I think that they would be OK anyway. The Smoked ones are just too close to the color of my Jag, so I want to opt for the darker ones. I'm just having a devil of a time locating them!

Any suggestions guys?
Thanks,
Brian

I think I have seen some spray tint available that many of the ricers use to create smoked or black-out looking tail lights. I have heard this stuff works pretty well for that purpose.

Thanks Doug, I know that a spray is available at Autozone. Being that Arden has put the real thing (I assume) on their extraordinary XKR, I would rather locate THAT. I would hate to end up with an tacky, failed attempt at an upgrade. I know the best option is out there somewhere...............
Thanks,
Brian

order some smoked vinyl online, check ebay. Its pretty east to do. You just have to heat shrink it with a blow dryer to the curves of the light. It will take a little practice but after its done it will look like the real deal.

Thanks for the suggestion, that sounds like a good route to go. At this point though, I think that I am going with LED Side Lights from Adamesh in the UK. Geoff is going to fix me up with a custom made darker set. He was great to deal with on my Quad LED Tail Lights as well as a few other projects.

Brian, do you have a pic to share of those taillights on your car?

Hi Roger,
Sure, here is a link to my Album, where I have a a quick shot of the Quad LED's after they were installed. I really like the difference that they made, and they are probably my modification that is the most commented.
Regards,
Brian

I bought the clear lenses with amber bulb from Adamesh Ltd., but can't figure out how to remove the old ones. Can't get behind them to remove them. Anyone have any suggestions?

let me know what you find for the side markers as I want to due that as well. If you look at the so cal meet pic's mine is the one with the film on the headlights, brake, and fog lights. The film would not work on the side markers with out grinding down the lettering on them so I am waiting for another option myself

Hey Brian,
Your XKR definitely looks cool, and will look even better after the Side Lights are done. As I mentioned, I am going with LED Side Lights from Adamesh in the UK. Geoff is going to fix me up with a custom made darker set, much like the tint of the Ardens'. I'll post pictures after I receive/install them.
Regards,
Brian

Brian, The "repeaters" are the lights on the front fenders just behind the front wheel wells. Are these the ones you are talking about? For the US market, they were not installed until the '03 model year, but the fenders are pre-punched to accept them. US versions had the Jaguar emblem stuck on over the holes. I updated my '01 XKR with the clear repeaters with amber bulbs. The driver side was pre-wired so the wire just plugged into the repeater light socket. The passenger side is another story. It is pre-wired to a connector under the plastic cover next to the shock tower. The wire connector for this was a nightmare to find. The Jaguar parts departments couldn't find a part number to order the connector wire. I finally found the part number by looking on a friends '05 XK8 wire connector that had the part tag still attached to the wire. I ordered it by the part number and it had to come from Jaguar distribution in the UK. It was about $100!! If this is what you are doing and want the part number for that connector wire, let me know and I can look it up.

Hi Lew,
Thanks for the offer, but I originally misspoke somewhat. I have already replaced the Red Leaper on the side with an aftermarket one that I prefer. The side running lights in the front and rear are what I am having replaced with LED's w/ dark tinted covers. I mistakenly referred to them as "Side Lights/Repeaters". Thank you very much for the kind offer though!
Regards,
Brian
