Dead pump and full tank
Hi All
When I want to start my 2001 XKR after winter storage it would not start, it would turn over and catch and then die. I figured it was the pump, so I jumped the pump relays to battery positive and they both seem to be running so I swapped relays.
I tried it again and it fired up and ran just fine. I ran it for a week, and it stated first time, every time.
Yesterday it would not start. I checked the pumps again, jumping the relay connection 87 to battery positive. This time only the secondary pump was working. I swapped relays with one’s from the front fuse box but no dice.
I need to pull the tank to change the pumps. My problem is I filled the tank to the brim the day before.
Can I drive with the # 2 pump jumped to the positive battery connection just to use the gas up.
Or is they a way to make #2 pump the primary for a few days.
Thanks,
Karl

Just pull the relay for fuel pump #1. The car will learn that there is an issue after a few attempted starts and switch over to pump #2.
You may see a CEL and a P1230, but the car should run OK if you're not heavy on the throttle in the meantime.
