Default Fuel Pump # 2 not working?

My car requires long cranking (2x) when cold but starts right up when warm. Recently I got short RP and then codes 0171 &0174 so I checked both fuel pumps:

-both relays in place - car starts
-remove relay for pump #1 - car cranks but won't start
-switch relay from pump # with pump #2 - still won't start
-Pump #1 jump contacts 3 & 5 - can hear pump running
-Pump #2 jump contacts 3 & 5 - no sound
-fuse #15 is good

Is my pump #2 dead?

thanks

Sounds dead to me, I'll look at the wiring diagrams later day.

I looked at the 98 and 2002 wiring diagrams and I'd say your #2 pump is dead.

pretty much

the only other possibilities are:

- no +12 at the relay

- wiring between relay and top of tank is bad

- in tank link lead is bad

the third possibility still requires tank removal, so it is effectively the same chore

to discount the first possibility i like to jumper from the power junction stud at the corner of the fuse box
