Default Decent Indy shop in northern Virginia?

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but.... I'M SELLING KITTY! (waaahhhhh!!!!).

The prospective buyer is a bit of a newbie, so I wanted to give him a recommended shop he could use for maintenance. He lives in Sterling, VA - just west of D.C. Does anyone have any favorites nearby?

I am going to miss driving her (and all you guys) sooooo much!

Thanks

Jim,

What caused your decision to sell? Just curious because I know you love that car....

Hi Jon!

Yeh - I truly do love that car. Even with owning two other "new" Jags, I can't drive Kitty out of the neighborhood, before just swooning over how great she feels to drive. The Sportbrake and F-Pace just don't feel like that. (....sniffle)

Back in 2012, I bought Kitty to specifically serve as my long distance "GT" for drives to Florida, Michigan and Connecticutt as well as my daily driver. She felt just PERFECT at 90 MPH (her Happy Place). To bad that wasn't much of an excuse to the highway patrolmen! - lol. Those traveling needs no longer exist and the wife recently surprised me with a Ferrari 360 she won on BAT. I just don't need two 400 hp cars and the garage can only house Sophia (Ferrari) and Rocinante (the convertible 5-speed Triumph GT6 Resto-Mod that I built). My youngest daughter (still in college) learned how to drive in Kitty (and she drives her quite well) and was thrilled to tears when I said I'd give her Kitty and take of the insurance, but she was later reduced to tears again when she said she just couldn't afford the gas bill (and after being terrorized by her mother over break-down probabilities), and had to take a pass. It would have been nice to at least keep her in the family. Nuts.

The car still has a few "sniggles" I was too lazy to delve into, so I priced her right at less then $6K. Yeh - I know: Just heartbreaking.

I've made the prospective owner promise to attend to a few things as soon as he gets the car. But he's young and not much of a gear-head yet, so he'll be relying on Indies for while - that's why I started the thread.

Hey Jim,
Finding an indy mechanic for these cars isn't easy. I did take my old XJ to London Auto Services in Falls Church when I lived up that way. They get pretty good
reviews, and at the time, they worked on many older Jags. Best of luck !

Hi Jim,

Hmmm - I know London Auto. The Triumph club holds tech sessions there. Those guys definitely know TRs. Never thought about using them for the XKR. I'll pass the recommendation onto the new owner.

Thanks!

Thanks for the well wishes, Jon.
