Smile DIY Installed the RealGauge today :)

Hi Gents & Ladies,

finally installed the realgauge today, thanks to Steve for the quick delivery and the excellent instructions, it was an relative easy DIY job, but I almost got an heart attack when I re-connected the battery once I was done, Nothing - I mean nothing happen on the main instrument cluster - almost got panic - but then quickly realized that I must have missed to connect the main instrument connectors somehow, so of with everything again - re-check - and Yes - it was the main instrument connectors that I did not mount properly - I missed to push the level to the sides both on left and right side -

ref "Then push the connector in firmly. Then rotate the bail TOWARD the cable end and the connector will self seat and lock

once that was fixed - then next thing was a new error engine code - connected the OBDII and run a diagnostic reset - all fine - code went off - and after some test, everything runs fine !

I'm really happy to be able to read my engine coolant temp without being connected to the OBDII all the time - thanks Steve for making this upgrade available to us !

I share some pic's below as it may be useful for others who plan on fixing the
stupid original non functional temp gauge

realgauge cooling temp module + wiring from Steve @ thejagwrangler.com

disconnect the battery, btw - lower the steering wheel prior You disconnect the battery

lower panel off

remove main instrument cluster

removed the left ventilation, so it's easier to move the instrument cluster out

T-20 torx screws

new temp module mounted

wiring left

wiring right

electric tape!

OBDII say's 85C - new cooling temp shows 85C - perfect

Did the same thing. Congratulations on a successful installation. I am most satisfied with the RG.
