Default Does it happen to all of us?

I've never had things like this happen to me before. Now, it happens every few days. I have a white 1997 XK8 with a tan colored top. Great shape.

I came out of Walgreens today. As I walked up to my Jag, the woman in the car next to mine had her head out of her window. I thought she was having a stroke. I got up close and said hi. She said, "I was just admiring your car, it's the most beautiful car I've every seen."

Is this just. How it is when you own one?

Happens all the time. People roll down their windows at stoplights. People stare as you're driving through a parking lot.

And when my wife is in the car with me everyone thinks I must be a billionaire because that's the only way a dude who looks like me could get such an awesome looking car and such a hot wife.

It's interesting because I get comments from young -- like, teenage-young -- admirers. There are not a lot of them on the road.

I'd love to go white, though.

Can't stop anywhere without people stoping by to have a look at the Jag. There's only a handful of them i Norway and many has never seen one before.

It's funny, I have to be remonded that these care are rare in the whole scheme of things. When they were relatively still new on the market, I lived in L.A. and they were fairly common. My boss had a hardtop and I drove it regularly. But other places they are more rare. More common here in Florida but still get comments on it regularly.

Yeah..in the beach cities or Beverly Hills you MUST have a Jag or its equivalent, or you are just ghetto trash. But Beemers are like Fords down there. Or, is it "Bimmers"? Mine came from the San Diego area originally.

It IS a beautiful car. People do look & comment. Usually with some longing and resignation, thinking they'd love to have one and "knowing" they can't afford one.

It's vain but when they take a pic with their cell I can't help but smile.

It happens on a very frequent basis. I have owned a lot of cars over the past 43 years, some certainly more exotic, like my Pantera, but none get complimented so often. And no one ever believes it is a ten year old car or a 15 year old body style. Some designs are just destined to be classics from their inception.

It is remarkable but these cars seem to test well with all age groups. I have gotten compliments from teens to seniors. It is always fun when you are leaving a store and headed across the parking lot, to find someone walking around and eyeing up your Jag. One of my favorite comments was: When I win the lottery I'm getting one of these. I guess the ultimate zing though is when you pull up in front of a really nice evening venue to pick up the wife and a group of nice young ladies ask if this their ride. There are clever ways to live large without breaking the bank.

Enjoy the road ahead.

I went to the New Orleans Jazz Fest a couple of weeks ago, and it attracts over 50,000 people, all coming and going at different times, so the entire area is full of people walking to and fro.

There was a lot of traffic, so we would get stopped at every intersection, and there were multitudes of comments about how beautiful a car that it is.

Every time someone would say something, my buddy in the passenger seat would say, "It's a rental!" After I slapped him in his bald head a few times, he finally quit.

Yes, I have had people follow me out into the parking lot to ask me about it and to say how much they like it.

As has been stated, to me, and clearly to most others, the styling of this first generation XK is timeless, and cars that are over 10 years old but in pristine condition are thought by people to be practically new cars.

True beauty never ages.

I have to agree, the XK is a classic design that is very gorgeous and appealing to people of all ages, and even with newer and more modern designs out there nothing really has a timeless design like the XK. It's truly a remarkable machine.

My wife is the main driver of our 2000 XK8 red convert. And, yes she does still get comments. When she first drove to one of her ladies meeting she goes to here at Holly Lake Ranch, Tex all the ladies had to go out and see it. She got comments like, "I wish my husband would buy me a car like that". As it turned out one of her friends went home and told her husband she wanted a red convertible like Barbaras'. So he went out and bought her a new red Mustang convertible. Not the same!!! Must have cost him five times as much as I paid for hers. And she still comments that hers is the best looking car there is.

Bourton on the Water Race Diagnostics???

Whenever I park my car in Florida it seems to get more attention than almost any other car I've owned. On two separate occasions people have left their 'phone numbers in case I want to sell.

It brings a smile to my face when I see a young child admiring the XK and telling his parents to look at this cool car. You can see how thrilled the kid is and it reminds me of the days when I was that young and I spotted a gorgeous Jag and dreamed one day of owning one.

I was just gettiing into my car at a Toyota dealership and had the top down when a couple walked by. The woman said to her husband, "When I win the lotto that is the car I want"
