The door is open but no one is home?
Try this one on for size.
The other day the key fob decided not to work. Added new batteries, nothing. Got the lesser used one and it worked fine. Three days pass and the same thing happens. Car runs great, but fob is not so good. Went by the dealer and described the symptoms. He thought the fob may have "gone to sleep". He advised me how to "wake it up". Before I left I made a passing comment about a mysterious chime being heard when I would leave the car. The service writer said, thats your problem.
Your door is open on the ignition switch, and the car still thinks the key is in the ignition there for the fob won't lock the car you have to use the key.
So far so good a little WD-40 on the key and the ignition door seems to have worked.
Talk about quirkey.
