Default Sticking coolant sensor?

Hi Guys
I have a 2002 XKR with 44K miles. In the last two weeks my Engine Coolant Low light has been coming on after initially starting the car. It always goes off after I've driven for a few mins - or over a bump in the road. I've checked the levels and all appears to be fine. I have a sneaky feeling the sensor is getting stuck and only releases when physically knocked around.

Someone please tell me I'm right! I love my local Jag guys but only have one kidney left and I think I may need it. Does anyone know a simple (very simple) fix?

Thanks.
Sheridan

The magnet that slides up the sensor tube can get sticky due to deposits from the coolant. The sensor itself is a normally closed reed switch that can have problems with contact resistance. The sensor is replaceable by itself but the entire reservoir must be replaced to address the sticky floating magnet. A dealer or indy would replace both. $200+ for the reservoir, about $25 for the sensor, parts only on line. Probably $500 at the dealer drive out.

I have the same problem.
