painted my 1998 xk8 --in order to facilitate it i took off the exterior handles -now it wont lock --lock-unlock ---then goes into alarm when i use remote--------any suggestions --thanks in advance

 

I would say from the sounds of it, you have misaligned something on refitting.

You may have to take it apart again to make sure everything is lined up correctly. Probable cause is the door ajar switch.

first thanks for your reply jim----------------found what was wrong---------had the door panel off also !!!!!!!!!well i re-plug the window switch and hung it on the door handle----------well i guess ---3-6 oz is enough to cause problems with the door lock operation ----------anyhow problem solved
