So decided to try my hand at repairing cracking and wear marks on driver’s seat of my ‘97 xk8. Found AutoLeatherDye.com , good reviews/kits,videos....and matched leather dye in the kit. Have to say that I’m thrilled that I didn’t screw it up. Couldn’t do anything about seat stitching, for now, but the repair itself isn’t half-bad(a nail-biter). Before After
I have had big success with wear to the edge of the door pulls and centre console by painting with a very small brush some cream in my case car spray from a can. Squirt some in the lid and off you go. The first coats will soak in ..thats fine . Once it drys come back and the initial coats will have sealed the surface .
No I used something called Ford Sierra beige but this is UK and Sierra is a 30 year old ford car ..bascally its just a creamy colour similar to the seat . Trick is not to panic when it seems to soak in just put on 3 coats to seal the surface and then when its dry the last coats will gloss over. On my monitor, it looks a bit browner than the real colour
Hi..., in my case, I took the interior code off of the door panel info, looked up the code online and found that it was “Coffee”. Previous owner had a bottle of dye in the trunk labeled Jag 16, but not knowing if it was a match or even if it was useable ....I ordered the “coffee” from the company. Lo and behold, it was labeled Jag 16! It was a spot-on match.
Being VERY new at this(and admittedly not nearly enough light in work area), I am having to correct one small seat area. And add more lighting. Pray for me

[QUOTE=crbass;2428891]So that will be some time in the next 47 years or so?[/QUOTE
Not sure about any other forum members, but my “to do, hope to do, can’t possibly do, wish someday to be able to afford to do list” will probably also take 47 years.....Will have to leave the car to my granddaughter in my will...
