Easy Fix For P0171, P0174 and/or Cracked Air Duct
I tackled the nagging P0171 and P0174 (lean in bank 1 or bank 2) with a fairly easy fix. I checked this forum and found that one of the usual causes was air leaks between the MAF sensor and throttle body. I checked the air duct on my car and sure enough it had cracks along the bottom in the bellows section. Instead of buying a whole new duct ($$??) I cut out the bellows and installed Nissan part number 16578-CA09A, cost $20. Much better than the original set up. As an added bonus it makes the air filter access easier and lessens the risk of creating a leak after you check it.
Don't need no stinkin' picture! The repair is so straightforward you don't need one but for the mechanically challenged here's a mental one: Replace the failed cheap plastic part with a nice new rubber bellows like it should have been made to begin with.

No worries Matt I can do that, just let me know if you have a breather coming out of the induction pipe at the TB end? Or post up a pic, there is also a slight chance the US spec ones might be slightly different but dimensionally they will all be the same.
I am very interested in that set up as well. My XKR has the breather where the induction tube enters the TB - it is 90 degrees to the TB opening. Do you also have it routed into the fender well for cold air?
Please excuse the dust, ran through a little dust storm here.

As far as I have been able to tell the induction pipe is the same for both Euro and US XKs (Rs and 8s are different I was going to put an XK8 pipe on to eliminate all those parasitic sound control tubes but your set up is so much better)

OK Strut brace might of given you the idea of the, across the engine bay connecting the 2 together.......And your are right, it is impossible, there simply is not the room under the hood.
What I have done is recreate the OE steel tube items you see fitted to convertibles, going from the strut to the bulkhead. These are made from solid aluminium (7/8 dia) and fit to the strut via a stainless ball joint.
I do have pics of some fitted to my coupe, quite a few people do not realise the holes the convertibles have to fit the brace to the bulkhead are also present on coupes so can be fitted.
When I am back at work on Monday I will take a pic

I would like to know what your breather tube costs also. And the wire mesh louver inserts for XKR hood, like MarcB's. What else to you make?
And, I had wondered to myself whether there were threaded holes on the coupe for mounting the convertible struts/supports as I thought it could only help...thanks for answering that too.

I will work a price out for you guys, it will be a little more expensive for those with the newer XKs because of the extra breather, just give me a couple of days.
I have a 2004 XKR with the later type so I can do a drawing and produce a few.
Below is a pic of the strut cap and brace, in this pic the brace still needs polishing but you can see how it fits onto the strut tower

@ Steve, you need to have a wander around my website
www.paragondesignuk.com basically I can do anything (well amost anything), there is still alot I have not put up yet, it is as with life, a work in progress!

Xkracer is a fabricating genious...if it can be made, he'll do it. If he hasn't thought of it yet, I bet he can build it.
I'm surprised nobody has asked for those snazzy 'halo' lights.
