Default engine hunts (oscillates rpm) mildly on hill

On a moderate hill at 30mph in D (2nd or 3rd gear I would guess) the engine speed fluctuates very slightly between about 1250 and 1300 rpm. No codes thrown by either the engine or transmission. Car drives fine otherwise. Normal, or early sign of failure? 2004 XK8, 32500 miles.

I've got the same thing. I've been told it is probably a tired torque converter. This disappears for me after about 5-10 minutes, when the tranny heats up.

hmmmm, good observation. I've only noticed it early in a trip. I'll have to go for a longer drive and see if it resolves.
