When in restricted performance mode in a 2000 XK8 Jaguar sitting for awhile, will the engine light also come on?

Restricted performance is engaged when conditions far outside safe parameters are occurring and allow you to limp home without causing major damage. If it has set for awhile and now when you start it you get the check engine light illuminated then the ECM has set DTC codes to pinpoint the areas of concern.
If you check engine light is on, take it to any of the auto parts stores that read codes for free. Get the readout and post the numbers here and we can help resolve the issue. Be sure to have them clear the codes after reading them. It will be important later after repairs to see if repairs were effective.
