We appreciate your feedback on the hours to replace the engine. We just see costs of repairs all over the place on any Jaguar mechanical repair--seldom any of which are reasonable charges.

There are so many technicians, shop owners and especially dealership service writers (commission salesmen) that play Jag owners for fools. We didn't get to be so prominent as individuals by being stupid. LOL!

It's not just pulling the engine and replacing it for 13 hours labor. You've also go to consider all of the hang on's that have to be swapped over. One engine may have lower miles or better components on it. And, it was said that the original problem needs diagnosis to prevent the same thing from happening to the new engine.

Only Super Mechanic would be able to beat the factory base labor time for some mechanical jobs. But, Super Mechanics are few and far between. Many manufacturers base their warranty rates on perfect conditions--in an imperfect world. I'm just thankful that I found a $50 per hour experienced Jag mechanic locally.

I was a little too far in with my regular mechanic on this one already so i had to stick with him. Thanks for the heads up though and i'll definitely keep rod in mind for future work on both my cats.
