Engine surges when cold
I am having pulsation problems with a 2003 Jaguar XKR with 14,000 miles on it. When the engine is cold, for the first 10 minutes, the engine will surge or pulsate when I hold the trottle constant. This happens when the automobile reaches 30 to 40 mph and the transmission has shifted into sixth gear. This is very noticeable when pulling a little grade. The Jaguar dealer could not see the problem when I brought it in as there were no codes and because it had warmed up, The problem will not reoccur again that day. My California emission warranty is about to run out and I think it is time to make this Jaguar perfect for the total enjoyment that it should give me. I paid the dealer $110 ro reflash the computer as they thought that it might be a problem between the transmission and the engine, but that made no change. One of the techs thinks it may be the throttle body but I am not going to start paying big bucks for a gussing game. We are not able to determine if it is covered under the emission warranty until we determine what the problem is. I have a 2002 XJR and I would try to solve the problem myself by swapping parts but unfortunately in has the 4.0 engine and I would guess the throttle body is different. I would appreciate any ideas.
