engine swap
97 XK8 I need to swap my engine. Is it easier to remove just the engine or engine tranny combo. Anything to be aware of or hints to make it easier when performing this operation?
If you are willing to pull the radiator and its upper support as well as remove the hood and perhaps bumper cover, on most cars removing the engine and transmission as an assembly is much easier.
Rent an engine hoist with the load leveler bar, and it is a rather straight forward job.

Hi tilbury,
You can download the Factory Workshop Manual at the link below:

You're facing a lot of disassembly regardless, but I agree with WhiteHat that you may find it easier to pull the engine and transmission together rather than fiddling with all the bellhousing bolts and such.
Cheers,
Don
