Thanks Mikey. I watched the Jag Tech with the mechanical gage connected to the engine showing normal oil pressure above idle.

I would still pull the oil pan and check/clean the oil pick-up screen. It could be done in less than an hour on a lift. If the screen is OK then just drive because it is what you are doing anyway.
If the screen is 'plugged', then clean it and you might extend the life of the engine.

I had a Buick Skylark fully restored similar issue thought it funny until the engine came apart catastrophically near Buttenwillow in 110 degree heat. I was young, I don't take those risks anymore. It was not a happy day. My stepmother had a similar experience with her XKE but she'd thought the oil pressure gauge worked like a fuel level gauge so she at least had an excuse. You blow up an engine at speed and trust me it is a really memorable experience particularly if it locks up the rear wheels. The guy driving the car behind you will likely have a life changing experience at the same time, in my case his car just chewed up big portions of my engine which didn't do his front end any good at all. (though he kept driving and didn't stop for some reason, go figure?). Ended up selling the car for $10. My father, who had given me the car, was not amused.

An update on the situation: The car has been sitting for about two years now and the engine NEVER blew up yet. It's for sale now on cars.com.
