Default evap and comp component monitors

2000 XKR 82k miles. I am in California so I can smog it with only the evap monitor incomplete. Currently the 2 incomplete monitors are evap and comp component. I am trying to figure out if the comprehensive component monitor will reset if the evap is inc. I am afraid that it wont and I am wasting my time with more drive cycles. I guess I will have to dig into the source of the evap not resetting (I know it can take a while with these but it should have reset by now). California already took my vanden plas (ran perfect, passed the sniffer perfectly) off the road with the changes to the law regarding inc monitors, I would hate to lose the xkr.

In summation: Is it possible for the comprehensive component monitor to set if the evap monitor is still inc?

The attached PDF addresses this for 2003+ cars, but I do not know if it applies to earlier ones.

For the 2003+ cars, there are actually two evap monitors (see pg. 2) ... one tied to evap system readiness and one tied to the comprehensive component. My reading of the PDF is that the comprehensive monitor cannot indicate "ready" if the evap testing has not completed.

Thanks Dennis. That would explain my current situation perfectly, it must be the same or similar with these earlier models. Looks like i will not be able to avoid tracking this one down. I just hate to mess with a car that runs perfectly and has almost flawless live data because some bureaucrat/law maker got confused about how cars operate.
