Default Ever happened this?

Hi all,
Both my exhaust manifold were cracked. Seems Xk engines are not prone to do it, but may collapsed mount be the cause?

I have not seen this before on an XK8 or XKR, it did happen on my TT, I was running 1.4bar of boost with high exhaust temps for about 100k miles before it cracked though.

Were you able to get the manifolds off with the engine still in the car?

Yes, from the underneath, loosen the steeering rack and the front subframe, removed both manifold and engine support, replaced all. Total 600 Euro (including some other minor maintenance). Obviously parts provided by me.

Happened with my as well, at exactly the same spot.

My best guess is indeed from stresses carried over from the exhaust (on top of some other fators mentioned maybe as well). My best guess for now would be some misalignment of the exhaust/cat connection (especially on mine as I have sport cats, where the main connection to the gearbox bell house connection isn't that good).

In fact, the most strange was that both were cracked in the same exat point. I had still this one as less common on ebay due to the EGR, in case of need in the next years.

Put mine on the list as well found it only due to my number 8 cylinder loosing commpression due to holed piston (post here somewhere) so as it chuffed smoke noticed it blowing, on removal of engine was quit noticable but not before (2000 MY XKR)
