Anyone purchase an extended warranty on their Jag? I'm thinking of getting one on the XKR I'm buying since it's got the blower, etc.

 

I purchased one for my '99 XK8. Had 93K miles at purchase. Warranty is for two years or 24K miles, whichever comes first. Cost me $3,000 though but I'm not quite halfway through the warranty period and have had more than $1,500 in repairs covered so far.

While it covers lots of parts and even covers wear and tear, my biggest complaint is they limit what they'll pay on parts to the MSRP on Parts.com.

If your repair facility is used to working on Jaguars you should have no problem but I had to change from my 'family mechanic' to a specialist to get parts below the limit.

The repair facility's biggest gripe is sometimes they get a run-around as they have to call in for repair authorizations. The bigger the repair, the longer the delay in an authorization. Often, diagnosis costs aren't covered either.

So far I've had work done on: valve cover gaskets, power steering cooler assembly, and the fuel pump.
