Default External temp / Climate control

Hi

I have just noticed my external temp reads 55C; Im in Devon where i know a lot of old people come to die but its defiantly not Death Valley!

Has anyone changed the sensor before??

I suspect this might me confusing my Climate control which always blasts me with cold air, but there plenty of heat when I use manual control.

You are correct, that "ambient temperature sensor" is a major input into the A/C automatic control. I have never changed it, but it seems readily available (here in the US), and is located towards the front of the car, under the front bumper/grille area. As usual, you might want to check the harness, or at least do a visual inspection just in case the fix is something other than the sensor.

Separately, if you look around, the A/C system can manually be put into diagnostic mode, and the display can show error codes (no special tool required). Maybe the system already "knows" of this problem, and can confirm your diagnostic. Then again, that external temp reading makes the culprit pretty obvious.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

It's probably like the one on my car, similar position. Easy to change, not too costly (£20 or so). Yes, major input.

Thanks

Yes it is very easy to change, it on the front bumper and accessible (non mesh grill type) without taking anything apart. Climate control seems to be behaving now
