Default Fail safe engine mode

I was getting the fail safe engine mode and a P0122 code. During this fail safe engine mode the cat ran very well with no restriction of RPM. Engine went all the way up to 4,500 rpm with no trouble. Replaced the TB with a rebuilt unit did a hard reboot and the P0122 code went away. Went for a test run had cruise control. After a few miles lost cruise control then fail safe engine mode came up. Car still had full RPM range and did not show a code on my reader. I tried to erase the fail engine mode with no luck. Did another hard reboot and fail safe went away. It still returned after a few miles and with no cruise control. Cruise control would try to come on with a small bump in speed but would not latch. This is a 2000 XK8

Anyone have ever have this issue?

Walt

Are you getting the failsafe anytime with the cruise off?

It does not matter if it is on or off. Takes about 5 to 10 minutes after starting.

The P0122 code directs you to look at the P0121 code that addresses a compatibility problem with the throttle body plugs or a problem with the throttle body.

I hope this helps!

Thanks will try this. Is it possible to get a new or replacement plug as mine do not have the keeper and are chipped on the pin end. The new throttle body appears to have new pins. I have a tie wrap holding them in place now.
