Default Fail Safe Issues

I have had my XK8 since it was 21k miles old. In that time (thanks to SE Warranty), I have had relatively no major issues. In the last two months I have had several fail safes, the first of which was on the highway and scared the living crap out of me. Subsequently, I have been throwing a P0121, which didn't happen initially.

I have cleaned the connector a couple of times and decided today to get the gold pin kit (Thanks Nalley, for the excellent price and service!!). As soon as the kit arrives, I will install and supply updates.

It seems to me that TPS issues seem to be treated with an almost alchemistic approach. Basically, this grates against my typical analytic approach to most problems (hey, I'm a Six Sigma guy) and plan to follow up with my progress. I fail to see why issues with a simple device like a TPS cannot be either remediated or cured with a simple replacement of said device. That being said, I have seen Lincoln and Ford T'Bird TPSs that look remarkably similar.

If you are interested in my progress let me know, otherwise I'll chalk this up to another garage project and let others post on subjects of greater import.

Cheers,
Hamish

Definitely follow up. Lots of thread questions about possible TPS related codes and failures.
