Finally starting project "Dream"
Hi all it must have been at least a year ago when I first posted. The 1997 XK8 is finally in the garage (and de-moused) and I'm ready to start working on it.
Here's where I'm at: I knew for sure there was a problem with the shifter (looks like there was a fire in the ashtray/ burnt the cruise and sport mode buttons) in that it moved freely without the key in the ignition. I have replaced it and hooked up the trans. linkage so I think I am fine there.
Unfortunately The battery was dead so I'm not sure if I am getting all the Codes thru the OBDII.
First code P0102- mass or Volume air flow A circuit low
Second: P0112- Intake air temp sensor 1 cicuit low
Third: P1000- DTC definition not found- refer to vehicle service manual.
At this point all air filter plastic (duct work) is removed so this could be the reason I get the first 2 codes......is this true?
The other 2 alerts via the display at odometer reads......Engine fault, then poor vehicle performance.
I have not tried to start the car yet in that I thought it a good idea to at least change the oil and siphon the gas out of the gas tank and put in a bit of fresh fuel. By the way, is there a way to determine if the fuel pump works or not? I would assume it would have coded out if there was a problem.
I also checked all the fuses and all are fine, but it looks like I may be missing some relays....I guess I could just fill in all the missing ones, but I assume there are different types and would hate to screw anything else up....I surely don't want to create any more work for myself
)I took a few pics for anyone to give me feedback regarding this. (upload failed/ not sure what to do to post the few pictures)
Thank you guys so much in advance, I am really looking forward to getting this cat on the road. Bruce

Bruce,
I've moved your new thread from Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Centre section to the XK8/XKR section.
Expect you'll get a lot of interest in your project here and advice from members with the same model. I'm certainly looking forward to following your progress.
For guidance on posting pics, check this thread:

As you're asking about relays, you probably don't have the Vehicle Care Manual? If you need a copy for your MY, you can download it as a PDF from here:

The Handbook has all the fuse and relay details.

Also, P1000 is "Emission Monitors Not Complete". This Code will change to P1111 "Emission Monitors Complete", after several Driving Cycles.
P1000 and P1111 are NOT Trouble Codes.
Thanks Graham, your help and the help of the forum will be greatly appreciated. I love this car (althought I have'nt driven it yet), and am looking forward to getting her running. I had to wait til I felt I could afford to dedicate my time and money to this project wholeheartedly. Kids in college can be a real vaccume (sp) haha
Thanks Paul. What are your thoughts about changing oil, flushing radiator before I even try to crank it up? Also, what are your thoughts about the relays? I'm really not sure if I'm missing any crucial ones (that would prevent it from starting) and or which one is which....they are not labeled on boot fuse cover. TIA
