Default Fine Looking Car!!

I have not had much of an opportunity to drive the Jaguar as my wife has been nabbing it.

I had to meet her and my 7 year old daughter at our local baseball stadium for an event, (pre season gala), and I was there a bit early, waiting in the parking lot for her to show.

I could see them enter the parking area and I have to tell you, even though I am not a huge fan of the stock wheels on a 97, when they are in motion, they are stunning. I could not get over how attractive that car was gliding through the nearly empty parking lot towards me. I have never seen a coupe in motion before that moment..plenty, (relatively) of convertibles around here but again, watching this car in motion really impressed me.

She did a bit of a catwalk routine for me, passing by slowly, doing a wide arching 180 about 100 yds away from me and then slowly approaching when she made a smooth jibe to the left and parked next to me. So sleek, so sexy...so...so

My impure thoughts were dashed when my daughter popped up and said "Hi Daddy, Mommy did 80 on the way here so we wouldn't be late!!".

They of course outshine the car 100-1 but any sense of Buyers remorse, (did I really need this car??), have vanished forever!!

Of course that thought was dashed when my wife looked me dead in the eye and said....sell the mini van!

haha good story.......... and looks like you might become a 2 Jag family. As much as I love my XKR I miss my XJ8, my current XJ VDP sucked a valve and I have to decide if I want to fix it or just buy another XJ which im looking at. While an XJ wont give you the total interior volume of a mini van (then again the longer wheelbase might come close) it sure doesnt blend in with the other mini vans in the parking lot. Good luck, enjoy...... they are a pleasure, especially when they run right.

I had a 96 VDP, six cylinder.

loved that car, very nice light green...that is what I was driving when I met my wife...so she understands.

yeah, I did mention she would look better in a convertible...she agreed..so did my daughter

one never knows!

enjoyed your post tiger, I love stories like that. I have to second the xj, even if you want up to a 2004-2007 model, they're cheap, and get great gas mileage (27 highway), plus room for really long drives with more than 1 passenger.

It's frequently a case like that when you get to see your car "out-of-context", so to speak, especially if it is a daily driver. I get into mine in the morning for the short commute to work and then at the end of the day back home and then on the weekends for the usual chores and recreational activities. Under those circumstances the car serves more as a utilitarian tool to get you from A to B (in our case very nicely from A to B). But on those occasions where I am more of an observer, for example having it valeted back to me after leaving it somewhere, I always get a thrill when I see it approaching from a distance as it comes rolling up for the delivery. Other bystanders also can't take their eyes off the car.

Good point, I forgot to add that as they were leaving that night, (the event was 90% men...baseball fans), I watched a bunch of guys checking out her and the car...

So true Doug..... last week I was leaving a casino here (met someone for lunch) and valeted the car. Had to wait on a bench for them to bring it out and while I loved watching it pull up I noticed everyone else (about 6-8 people) looking at it also and not the Camry and Caddy that were also brought up. Completely forgot about that perspective. Makes me like mine even more, LOL.
