Now you did it, budget be damned, I'm going to have to move this mod into this year. Know anyone in the market for a used kidney?. That red supercharged badge will look fantastic on the grille. XKRacer, how do I swap the black growler for the red one?

Glad you like the idea, and I know about busting budgets, believe me. Oh well, rules are made to be broken, as they say...

 

Warm the back of the badge with a hot air gun, a hair drier will work too, with a sharp knife prise the badge off, remember the badge is domed, just be careful you done scrape the back of the badge.
The one on the straker you can get to of easier as there are 2 small holes in the back but do a simialr thing, warm and push, the original badge is a tiny bit bigger but will fit in the straker...... Job Done!!

I'm getting ready to tackle this mod and what to check on some details. In addition to doubled sided tape, I believe the bonnet badge has a pin or pins on the backside that are used to hold it on using some kind of clip. Is that correct? XKRacer, the straker badge is also held on by double sided tape, correct? Is there anything else holding the straker badge on as with the bonnet badge? What are the two small holes for on the back of the straker that you mentioned? Also, what about the pins on the bonnet badge that go into the holes in the front bumper. Can these pins be left in place or do they need to be removed? One final question, can the straker badge be removed with the straker still attached to the grille or do I need to remove the straker from the grille first? Thanks,

Here is what the back of the bonnet badge looks like (with the paper backing that covers the adhesive):

The compression clip holds on the center shaft and the other pin simply fits in a hole at the 9:00 position to keep the badge oriented in the proper direction.

This picture was posted earlier, but as you can see on my bumper cover, the larger hole accepts the central shaft and the smaller hole at 9:00 is where the orienting pin sits:

Where did you connect to power? Battery is in the boot, and the "simple install" just got tricky! I want a constant power feed, and with all the posts about electrical problems, I don't want to make a mistake just trying to find some power for the licence plate!

 

Actually, I had forum member motorcarman install it while he was doing some other maintenance on my car; he runs a small independent jag shop not too far from where I live. You can PM him or he will likely respond to this thread if he sees it.
