Default Fitting Vent Pipe to Yuasa YBX5019 Battery (2003 XK8 4.2)

I'm just about to fit a Yuasa YBX5019 to my late 2003 XK8 4.2. The old battery currently fitted doesn't have a vent pipe - do I need to fit a vent pipe near the positive terminal to the Yuasa YBX5019? If so, where is the best place to buy one? As far as I can tell from their website, Halfords don't sell vent pipes.

Also, am I right in thinking that the red plastic plug fitted near the negative terminal should be left in place and not removed? I've just read that Yuasa batteries don't need a vent pipe but the packaging from Tayna said that the plugs should be instantly removed! I'd imagine that the one near the negative terminal should be left in the battery.

Many thanks in advance for advice.

Is there a vent hole by the positive terminal? I just fitted a Duracell DS95 which was supposed to be a straight swap for the old Varta G3, but it turned out to have the vent by the negative terminal - it's easy enough to extend the OEM tube so it reaches the hole in the floor.

Vent tubes can be found on eBay if you have a search.

If there is a vent plug in a vent hole the battery, I would definitely remove it before using the battery. Our 1997 XK8 does have a vent tube but most modern batteries don't need it so it just sits there. Perhaps yours is tucked down out of the way or has been pulled out by a previous owner? You could use any suitable diameter tubing, probably windscreen washer tubing size as sold in Halfords and just push the end through the rubber grommet.
