I need to remove those two vertical black pastic covers to install a single piece mesh grill. They appear to be rivited to the horizontal black metal strut.

Any ideas?

It's got a nice step by step with visuals. Obviously you aren't putting on a three piece, but it will get the old chrome strip and overriders off for you.
