Default Front Shock Bushings

I just read the Welsh Enterprise weekend special, and they have bushing kits for the front upper and lower for $106/side. Has anyone tried these yet, and if so, how did they work out?

I think replacing the shocks costs that much and includes new bushings.

The shock only includes lower bushings. I think the OEM uppers are $150 or more ea.

I REALLY want to know more information about this as I am about to replace the front shocks due to the lower bushing shot and nothing else bad.

In 2011 I went to replace my lower front bushings which were shot. Each bushing alone was $135 and the complete Bilstein w/bushing was $150.

No brainer.

You can get lower front shock bushings from Britishpartsco.uk for around $33. See: Steering-Suspension | Jaguar XK8 - XKR | British Parts UK

If you're in the US, you can get new front and rear non-adaptive shocks shocks for close to nothing:

Rear Shocks

For some reason, european prices are about 3x as high. Aren't these darn things made in Germany?

I appreciate all the comments on replacing the shocks, but I have yet to see a listing for shocks that include the upper bushing, just the lower ones. I know some members have tried urethane but were not pleased with the results.
My front shocks appear to be fairly new, so I just want to replace the upper mounts.

The upper shock mounts are not sold as part of any replacement shock that I have seen.

In the 1st attached photo, the upper shock mount (#22) is what you need. The 2nd photo shows what they cost at Gaudin Jaguar on their online site.

Here is a link:

Gaudin Jaguar Parts

I am not affiliated with Gaudin. I replaced mine last year on my 97 with 84,000 miles & bought them at my local dealer as they match any online discount I can get.

The upper shock mounts I removed were totally toast.

Part number is MJA2I70BD.

Motorcars Ltd sells the urethane bushings for $154, but I do not like what I have read about them. I will call Welsh Ent. and inquire as to the composition of their parts. Otherwise, it will be the Gaudin, most likely.

For that price, you are definitely better off buying the whole shock (including bushing) for $125. Or are you referring to the upper shock mounts, not the lower shock bushing?

In case you already haven't seen it, here is Rev Sam's video of when he rebuilt his upper shock mounts using the kit. In the video, he says he does not recommend the kit & it is better to just buy the whole new shock mount. I would have to agree:

azeteg: I did not make it sufficiently clear that I was referring to the upper shock mount bushing.

bsprouls: I recall reading the procedure for replacing the bushing and agree that it does make sense to replace the whole mount. Also, there will be no risk of getting a substandard bushing if I get the Jag part.

That was quick. I just found the complete upper shock mount at partsgeek for $105. Now it's just a question of the material. They claim the parts are from eurospare, but wait, it says out of stock. Nice try.

I won't bore everyone with more messages on this subject after this one. Motorcars Ltd has the upper shock mounts for $152.13 and that is what I am ordering.

Default shock mount

RJ237, did that shock mount you bought turn out to be an OEM Part? David.

just got mine from partsgeek for $113 (foam, not urethane). Now if it will get above 20 degrees at some point I might actually stop the squeak squeak...

partsgeek has them for $116 apiece, SHIPPING INCLUDED. that's the least expensive you will find. Just order them, have them installed and you'll be good to go.

Beware that the studs used on these aftermarket bushes are made of toffee, there are many reports of them shearing off.

I found this out the hard way, I ended up using the foam parts from these to rebuild my original units.

Going forward I would recommend the rebuild kit rather than these aftermarket units.

I replaced the front upper mounts on a XKR last year. Having seen the warning on the studs breaking because the powder coating on the threads jammed the nuts, I cleaned the threads with a die and had no problem with assembly.
