I replaced all shocks and front shock mounts 5 years ago. But I could not get camber correct as my ride height is low.
So I am replacing all springs, isolators and mounts to try to get my car to correct height. Did the rears and I need to order some packers.
Went to front and after compressing spring I cannot get shock mount off the shock shaft.
I know it's a silly question, did you get both nuts off the shock bolt. They have two, one is a locking nut on some cars, maybe not yours.
Of course let us know what you find out, It does look a little cocked, a bigger hammer but don't know if the foam would stand up too much beating.
That is a lot, no wonder you were low.
I have to ask. Why no jack stands? I understand if in mud, I'm trying to get a Spirit out of the mud and mo way would I trust a jack stand on the ground, we are getting rain every few days. The tire rims were under ground, been there a while.
Good idea on the puller.

I used the wood under the front frame piece and a jack stand under the A arm when needed. You can just see one leg of the jack stand
Took it to a shop with a much better spring compressor and they managed to compress the spring much further than i could and then tapped the upper shock mount from below with a hammer gently and it came off.
I had tried to use the spring to remove the upper shock mount as well and even the spring wasn't strong enough to unlodge it.
